You are a master mixologist, Blair! We couldn’t keep up with you, and scrambled to make some ingredient substitutions, so will return to this video in the coming days. We only regret that you did not incorporate Chartreuse! Thanks for the recommendations about maraschino cherries (ick) and below-the-waist vodka. This brought back wonderful memories of the evening Oz cocktails from the Oz Club convention in Syracuse many years ago. Cheers!
Thank you Scott! I tried to keep the cocktail demos short, so that the program would be about 30 minutes long. So my pace was a whirlwind. Regarding the Chartreuse, I love it, but seeing as it’s about $60+ per bottle, I tried to keep the cost down on these drinks. But, I do have a drink you will probably love. I didn’t create it, but it is amazing.
Pina Verde
1 1/2 ounces Green Chartreuse
1 1/2 ounces pineapple juice
3/4 ounce Coco Lopez
1/2 ounce lime juice
Garnish: mint sprig
Add all ingredients to a blender, and add ice (about 5-6 regular-sized cubes, cracked). Start with less ice; add more as you blend until you’ve achieved your preferred texture.
Blend until smooth, and pour into a glass or tiki mug.
Garnish with a mint sprig.
PS – I got the “love magnet” cocktail picks at The Gideon Putnam – 24 Gideon Putnam Road – Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 – (518) 584-3000. They were souvenirs from a few years ago when Kim and I stayed there for the weekend.
P.S. Where does one get Love Magnet cocktail picks?
Maine spirits seems to have most of the ingredients online, but not in my local supermarkets. So I’m trying the “Blinkie” variation of the WWW, substituting Deep Eddy Lemon for the lemon juice, and ginger brew for the ginger liqueur. Rather tasty!
That works! Deep Eddy Lemon has juice in it, so that’s all good. Cheers!
