Lunch: Picnic in Chicago’s Oz Park

The Marvelous Land of Oz was discovered in Chicago, and one of the most visible tributes to L. Frank Baum’s fairyland is a lovely park just north of downtown. Join us for a brief tour of Oz-related sites in Chicago, ending in Oz Park, where we will enjoy a picnic with Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion.

    1. Whoops — that should have read “marvelous Land of Oz” (lower-case m to indicate the place, not the book). Baum “discovered” Oz while living in Chicago. This video tour offers a brief description and quick visit to the site where The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was written in 1899 and a city park that honors the author and his creation.
